Bank of America is one of the most important financial institutions of the US. This is why its senior management team and its successful work are extremely important for normal functioning of the whole organization. The current senior management team seems to be very professional and perspective, especially, taking into considerations their experience and past work.
On discussing the main members of the senior management team of the Bank of America, it is primarily necessary to dwell upon the two key business line marketing executives for its Global Wealth and Investment Management division, which is particularly important in the current situation when the world economy tends to globalization. One of these two individuals is James Drury who has been recently named marketing director for Bank of America Global Wealth and Investment Management.
It should be pointed out that before this appointment he was managing partner of Boston-based Lochridge and Company Inc., a strategic consulting firm. He basically focused on marketing definition and assessment, development of segment-specific strategies, processes and organizations, and implementation of strategic growth initiatives for an array of clients. He also held key positions at The Allen Group and SC Johnson Wax that was also quite useful for his professional growth. Continue reading “Bank of America Essay”
California has always been perceived as a land of an American dream. Not only because Hollywood made the numerous people world famous, rich and successful. The whole state in the southwest of the United States is a dreamland. That is probably why the aspirations are so high, when one thinks of Los Angeles. Despite numerous flattering allusions provided by show business, LA is quite a problematic place to live.
We will not discuss highly controversial topics like drug use or sexual liberties – these are police concerns. The topic I would like to concentrate on is the problem of unemployment in the county. Continue reading “Unemployment in the US Essay”

Strategic decision making is very important in the current situation and is actually applied in different spheres. Not surprisingly that recent researches are often dedicated to this problem, especially being applied to prisoner’s dilemma games as one of the major tools of behavioral researches. In this respect, it is very important to trace the impact games played produce on the decision making process and this is exactly what Ivo Vlaev and Nick Chater attempted to research in their article “Game Relativity: How Context Influences Strategic Decision Making” where they thoroughly analyze the existing models of strategic decision making.
First of all, it should be pointed out that the authors of the article are particularly concerned about the effects prisoner’s dilemma games played in the past produce on players’ current strategic decision making. To put it more precisely, they argue that the reliability of a traditional view on the prisoner’s dilemma game experience is under the question since traditionally it is viewed that only the game that is currently playing may define the strategic decision making and the past game experience of the players produces little impact on their decision making in the current situation. Human relations, being very complicated, still can be structured and systematized. Human society represents a complicated structure where each individual occupies his own place and has his own social status. Such a structuration of society may be observed everywhere, in all spheres of human life, from an average family to the most sophisticated political institution. Moreover, nowadays human relations gets to be more and more complicated and the structuration of society often coincides with the creation of interest groups which stand on their own ground and which views and beliefs may be different from the rest of the society. At the same time, each individual remains independent and playing a particular role in the society regardless his/her belonging to any social group but obviously such the importance of an individual belong to influential social group increases dramatically that, nonetheless, does not change social differences between all members of the society. In the beginning of the book we can see that boys needed order and maintained the features of the civilized world they had by using conch. It kept them allied together and gave particular rules and laws for their group (society). The supreme law was that whoever holds the conch has the right to speak his mind and will without any interjection or disrespect. The case is a resemblance of having a policeman’s badge or, if thinking on a larger scale, even the mace in our parliament. Thus, boys had an organized system of living, based on reason, knowledge and insight given by the experience of living by adult rules.
However, the Lord of Flies had an even greater power that excelled the one of conch – fear. That’s what Jack used to gain power over the rest of the castaway boys. His promises to kill the beast decreased boys’ fear and that’s what made him eventually win over the group. Continue reading “Lord of the Flies Symbolism Essay”
Given highly important implications of quality, especially the possibility of selling goods world-wide using recognized quality standards, North American companies have implemented international quality standards such as ISO 9000 or ISO 14000. However, some entrepreneurs at small companies have complained that for the investment they put in meeting these standards and obtaining certification, the payoff was not enough. For example, at Delaware North Companies that received ISO 14000 certification, John Huey spent 18 months and about $115,000 to certify the company’s guest spots in two national parks. Although this improved employee morale, the certification did not trigger a rise in sales (Clifford 2005).
Many North American companies have turned to other methods of quality improvement, in particular Edwards Demings’ philosophy. Implemented at Ford Motor Company, the Deming Method helped the auto maker “set an industry record for net income” in 1987 (The Deming Library). Ford’s managers overcame wrong attitudes and united their employees in one team. Continue reading “Total Quality Management Essay”

My ultimate career goal is to lead a transformational innovation at my own company, pioneering new areas of business and uncovering the potential of my team in a new, unexpected way. Determined to pursue the most ambitious goals, I am confident that my past success in project leadership combined with managerial expertise enhanced through the Schulich MBA program, will help me translate my potential into tangible achievements.
Strange as it may sound, my career began when I was only 8 years old. Starting to cook in my aunt’s bakery, I received my first non-family job in baking at 12, progressing to the position of pastry chef. This part-time occupation continued through my high school years, during my undergraduate college studies resulting in a full-time job in patisserie Gourmet Privilege. In addition to cooking, this position offered possibilities for leading a team of six apprentices and co-op students, teaching them the intricacies of the profession and leading them through various projects. One of the important debates in psychology centers on the number of intelligences. The proponents of one-intelligence model argue that humans possess only one general-type intelligence that governs the development of specific faculties, whereas their opponents claim the presence of multiple intelligences, providing different listings. Spearman’s Model of Intelligence and Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences are influential in their respective paradigms. In this paper, we will review the tenets of each theory, trying to understand which of them is more in line with psychology today.
The theory proposed by Charles E. Spearman is a psychometric one in the sense that it seeks “to understand the structure of intelligence: the form it takes, its categories, and its composition” (ThinkQuest, 2000). The research performed by Spearman noted correlation between the measures of ability. Continue reading “Multiple Intelligence Theory Essay”
